My Connections to Play

Play today is extremely different then it was years ago. The added amount of technology was not at use. Thereby a child’s stimulus was play and typically outdoor play. Bikes, parks, lakes and other nature scenes were involved and the ideas of learning about all of these objects took place and added value to the Child's development and learning. I remember when I was at a lake with my family and friends. The ideas of saying “water” and “duck” was a great experience because not only could I see them but I could also touch these objects and describe them as well. Having this real life visual of the stimulus is great for the child because you can use your senses to describe the scene and events that take place. I feel that play should take place outside in the nature scene that really reveals the environment. In today’s world they have centers and “dramatic play”, however it more prevalence was taken outside of the classroom then the about of having a “hands on effect” will be impeccable and truly apply the essence in learning.

Relationship Reflection

Relationships and partnerships are important because it builds a network of communication and connection as well as developing important moral support throughout life's challenges and educational goals.

  • Relationships important to myself includes:  
  • My Husband  - moral support, guidance
  • My Parents  - guidance, shared past experiences
  • My Sister  - moral support, friendships, shared likeness
  • My Grandparents  - guidance, moral support and wisdom




  • Insights gained throughout these relationships has been trust and communication. i feel that communication has been a small issue. Having communication for relationships is extremely valuable and can benefit both party's. Special characteristics of these relationships include moral support throughout decision making as well as shared experiences. Work, in the early childhood profession, can be supported through these relationships by moral support and confidence to succeed and develop a deeper understanding of the field.

    Child Development

    Child Development is a great process that involves the growth of a child in many areas. Rather through cognitive acts, all mental processes, or physical qualities, such as grasping and obtaining fine motor skills. The amount of growth changes rapidly as a child grows.

    This quote demonstrated that learning is extremely important and can change the lives of individuals as well as children.

    Testing for Intelligence?

    The commitment to the whole child should be measured and accessed in all capabilities. Whether by physical developmental attributes to brain development and overall health. These developmental pattens Will reveal the overall growth of the child and relinquish knowledge on where this child should be in terms of development and how these rapid patterns of growth and health can be established, whether by school or home.

    China Physical Development  vs Academics
    In terms of being physically accessed Chinese children are unique compared to those in other developing countries because they do not perform household chores. Instead, they are under pressure to achieve scholastically. Participation in physical activities outside of school is almost nonexistent. Current television watching habits are relatively low compared to developed countries and walking/biking is a common form of commuting.  (Popkin, 2003) The descriptive analysis herein represents the foundation upon which future longitudinal studies of PA in this population will be based. (Popkin, 2003) A total of 72% engage in study-related activities outside of school for a median of 420 min/week. Only 8% of Chinese school children, regardless of gender, watch television > or =2 h/day; less than 1% watch > or =4 h/day. Chores related to housework are not a part of life for Chinese school children; fewer than 20% performed these tasks. (Popkin, 2003)

    Chinese children also commute to school by walking more often then U.S or other countries. They are more eager to participate in "academic" sport rather then physical activity. Due to the customs and beliefs of their traditions of their culture. In terms of academics, their assessment is relatively high in Math and Science, in comparison with other countries.

    Child Poverty

    Nearly 15 million children in the United States – 21% of all children – live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level – $22,350 a year for a family of four. Research shows that, on average, families need an income of about twice that level to cover basic expenses. Using this standard, 44% of children live in low-income families. (NCCP, 2012)

    Some of these children have parents who work, but low wages and unstable employment leave their families struggling to make ends meet. Poverty can impede children’s ability to learn and contribute to social, emotional, and behavioral problems. Poor health and mental health are also contributed. Risks are greatest for children who experience poverty when they are young and/or experience deep and persistent poverty. (NCCP, 2012)

    I have relatives within my family who grew up in poverty. They revealed the lack of clothing, food, and support while grwoing up. It was also implied that their only source for food was from school. The free breakfast and lunch povided substantial amount of food to get through the day and survive. Although food was provided in school, it was also hard for them to concentrate, due to hunger, appearence and bullying. Bullying is an increasing act that needs to be demolished in school.

    Children are currently feeling this stressor of child poverty all over the world. Their bisocial, cognitive, and psychosocial development is lowered due to the nutritional aspects needed for their bodies. Without propr fooan clothing the affect of development is at play. Children in china also face poverty. 200 million people in China live below the international poverty line of $1.25/day.
    468 million people in China live with under $2/day.55% of China’s population lives in the countryside. (UN, 2009) With these facts in mind children are suffering. They are maltreated and lack the basic essentials in order to survive.

    Nutrition is needed for infants and children in order to grow and develop properly. In view of where nutrition is diminished, malnutrition takes place where one’s body does not get enough nutrients. The child can occur certain conditions such as dizziness, faint, digestion, absorption, and other medical conditions.

    India has a high malnutrition rate. Malnutrition kills 5 million children every year and by six seconds its kill’s one child. Due to India’s high malnutrition rate the need for a policy was in high demand.

    National Nutrition Policy was adopted by the Government of India in 1993 under the aegis of the Department of Women and Child Development. It advocated a multi-sectoral strategy for eradicating malnutrition and achieving optimum nutrition for all. The policy advocates the monitoring the nutrition levels across the country and sensitising government machinery on the need for good nutrition and prevention of malnutrition
